About Aaron Chao & Bachata Journey
In the Sarasota area, Aaron Chao is a leading Bachata instructor and organizer. He is the Director and Owner of Bachata Journey, a dance school he started in 2024 to help grow the local Latin dance scene.
Aaron has a very diverse background. He started with hip hop and breakdancing before finding his passion for Bachata. He specializes in Sensual, Fusion, and Modern styles and has trained with top groups like Bachata Sensual Orlando and Bachata Fuego, as well as famous international artists.
Teaching Style & Mission
Fundamental Technique: Aaron's classes focus on the "how-to" of dancing. He teaches the core techniques and the connection between partners that makes dancing feel smooth and natural.
Bachata Sensual: He is well-known for teaching this specific style, which uses smooth, circular movements and body waves. It is a beautiful way to express the music on the dance floor.
A "Family" Atmosphere: Aaron's goal is to build a strong social dance community in Sarasota. He works to create a welcoming, family-like environment where dancers of all levels - from total beginners to advanced - can feel comfortable and have fun.
Regular Events & Classes in Sarasota
Bachata Journey holds several weekly and monthly sessions at local studios:
- Thursday Bachata Series: Every Thursday at 7:00 PM. Held at Dynasty Dance Clubs (2272 Main St, Sarasota).
- Bachata Socials: Monthly events held at the Sara Dance Center or local kava bars. These are great for practicing what you learn in class!
- Bachata Journey Intensives: Special workshops held on various dates for level 2-3 dancers who want to improve their skills quickly.
